MONDAY NIGHT SKILLS

Free Skills for registered GSSA players during the Spring and Fall seasons

  • Beginning Monday, Feb 25th
  • Monday nights at Bob Jones
  • 6:30-7:30

When/Where are skills?

We have skills on Monday night from 6:30-7:30 at Bob Jones, field 5, starting Feb 25th.

Who is skills for?

Children from the U6-U12 teams AND their coaches.  Yes parents may attend/help.

Why should I/my team attend Skills on Monday Night?

For some coaches, this is an opportunity to learn drills to do with their teams.  For others, it is an opportunity to have someone (besides yourself) offer instruction to your team.  It is done in a “stations” atmosphere, allowing players several different skills from many people in one night.  Also, for those looking for a 2nd night to practice with their team, this provides a great solution to gain instruction time without having to get a 2nd practice time/reservation. These skills are very similar to what our advance Academy teams learn on their skills night, creating a more versatile player!

If I attend as a coach, what will I do?

Our Director of Coaching, Barry “Mitch” Mitchell is in charge of skills (aka: loud British guy).  Please see him and he will direct you to a station.  He will show you how to run that particular drill with the kids.  You will have approximately 5 stations worth of kids come by and do that drill with you over the course of 1 hour.  This will perfect your knowledge of that drill and how to best implement it with you team.  Ideally you would switch drills each Monday night, giving you a larger variation of drills to do with your team!

Can my team move through the drills as a unit?

Of course!  They may have extra kids with them, but we try to keep the kids with similar age children!  The number of stations and drills is highly dependent on the number of volunteers!

We need your participation to make this program a success!
